Great strollers for one baby
With one kid to transport, many parents are looking for flexibility of use.
Features to look for include:
|
|
Snap in car seat adaptorNo one wants to wake a happily sleeping baby to put her in the stroller! This feature is available on all our strollers (Quinny, UPPAbaby, Xplory, Phil & Ted’s and Bumbleride) |

All-terrain wheelsEven if you’re no jogger, inflated tires or pneumatic wheels will give you a smoother ride on rough sidewalks, playground terrain, parks and beaches. Umbrella-style strollers are usually lighter, but you trade off with a rather bumpy ride. See our selection of All-Terrain strollers. |

Weight and Fold– Most high quality strollers with all-terrain wheels these days are between 20 and 25 pounds (unlike some of the old strollers, which somehow weighed nearly 40 pounds and had terrible wheels!). Look for ease of fold and how compact the stroller becomes. All of the strollers carried at Mod Mama fit in the trunk of a Toytota Corolla, so unless you have a Miata, you should be okay with any of our lines. |

Bassinet optionIf you are going to do a lot of walking with your newborn without going in and out of the car, a bassinet option may be for you. This is a very popular feature in Europe and most of our imported lines feature this option. It’s basically a pram, travel bed and carry cot in one. Added bonus: if your baby is colicy, you can stroll him around in the bassinet inside your home and when/if he falls asleep it can double as a Moses basket.Models featuring the bassinet are: UPPAbaby Vista (bassinet included), Stokke Xplory (bassinet optional), Quinny Buzz (bassinet optional). |

Quinny BuzzWith its oh-so-sexy hydraulic unfold (just tap the handle and it springs to life), modern design, cute and super-safe matching Mico car seat, and fun colors, it’s both practical and chic. Also if you change your mind, and opt for another, you can add a buggy board on the back for your toddler. |

Stokke Xplory Definitely the most high-fashion stroller on the market (yes, this is Heidi Klum’s stroller and as seen in the Sex and the City movie), but the main benefits are it’s super high riding seat, keeping your little one away from Taxi exhaust, snuffling doggies and other urban issues that plague those under 2 feet tall. It also has the best drive of any stroller we’ve tested (components are made by the same manufacturer as Mercedes Benz) so it’s a vehicle even husbands can get excited about. The seat is reversible and because of the height adjustment, you can push it up to a café or dinner table and use it as a high chair. This is a perk for families that like to eat out and travel and parent, all at the same time. Totally out of the box design makes it quite a head turner. |
